New Blog

I began blogging almost a year ago on my other blog, Stupid American. I wanted some way to put my ideas out there as I trudged through the PhD process. After some reflection, I have felt the blog didn't offer enough latitude. I didn't want to use the blog for anything other than my academic work; however, I have a number of other aspects to my life, such as teaching and the process of determining my own sexual identity.

I moved from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Philadelphia in 2005 to pursue my PhD. I have been out since I was 18 - without revealing my age, that's a while ago. Following my last relationship, I felt like I need some time to sort a few things out. I have been clean and sober for almost a year, and feel as if I am finding my groove as an educator.

I hope as I write about myself, you will take something away from my experience.
